Harold Lloyd Beasley, 85, passed away at the Via Christi Village on March 12, 2016.
He was born on May 26, 1930 to Floyd and Vera (Smith) Beasley in Great Bend, Kansas. He lost his mother when he was five.
He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and was discharged at the age of 25
He went to college at Kansas Community College (sic) [Kansas State Teachers College, (K.S.T.C.)], which later became Pittsburg State University.
He studied the refrigeration trade and worked for Montgomery Wards for 25 years in the surrounding areas of Hutchinson, Larned, Parsons, Fort Scott and Pittsburg, Kansas along with Joplin, Missouri. He also worked for Holiday Inn for several years. Harold then worked for the Pepsi Cola Company before working as a delivery person for the Pittsburg Morning Sun for more than 30 years. The whole family was also involved in the newspaper delivering business before he retired.
He was united in marriage to Mary Joan Smith on June 4, 1960 in Parsons, Kansas. They had been married 55 years. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include one daughter, Janet Taylor (James Atha II) of Pittsburg; one son, Justin Beasley of the home; one sister, Shirley Anderson of Garden City, Kansas; four nephews, John Anderson and family, Dwayne Anderson, Greg Anderson and his wife of Garden City, Kansas, and Richard Anderson and his wife of Wichita, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two twin nieces.
He was cremated according to family wishes.
The memorial services will be 1 p.m., March 19, 2016 with Pastor Jim Fryer officiating at the Independent Bible Church at 2202 N. Michigan St.
Private burial services will follow at Garden of Memories under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.
