Mary (Polly) B. was born August 24, 1793 at Bradford, Orange County, Vermont. She was the 5th of 9 children (3rd daughter) born of William Hodgkins (1758-1842) and his wife Ruth Brown (1765-1848). Her siblings were: Samuel (1785-1872), James B. (b. 1787), Sally (1789-1851), Ruth (b. 1791), John B. (1796-1860), William (b. 1800), Carlisle T. (1803-1879), and Lovina (b. 1805). Mary (Polly) died, unmarried, August 22, 1862, at Grand Isle, Grand Isle County, Vermont of Typhoid Fever.
