Nancy Ann Welsh, 78, of West Chester died Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit, West Chester. She was the wife of John N. “Jack” Welsh with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Donald Ford, who died when Nancy was 9, and Harold E. and Wilma Cheek Martin.
Nancy was a 1955 graduate of West Chester High School.
She was the receptionist for Bentley Harris, Lionville for over 25 years. Nancy was a member of Barley Sheaf Players.
She was a Broadway actress, and attended acting school in New York. She made costumes for many theatrical productions and re-enactment costumes. Nancy was a collector of fans, bee pins, and dolls.
In addition to her husband, Jack, Nancy is survived by her son David Welsh of St. Louis, Mo.; and her daughters Susan Smith and her husband Scott of Coatesville; Kathleen Daniels and her husband Brandon of Glenmoore; and Kelly Whitworth and her husband Wayne of West Chester; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Barbara Yamerick and her husband David of Glenmoore; and one brother Edward Martin and his wife Theresa “T.C.” of West Chester.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her sister Carol Jeffries.
Nancy’s memorial service will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. where family and friends may call beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Wentz Funeral Home, 342 East Chestnut Street, Coatesville 610-384-0318.
