Dennis Burdette Acker, son of Erwin and Wilma (Dodd) Acker was born January 20, 1944 in Sioux Falls, SD. His family then lived in rural Garretson, SD before moving back to Sioux Falls in 1954. Dennis grew up in Sioux Falls graduating from Washington High school. In 1964 he entered the U.S. Air Force serving until 1968.

Dennis then worked for Perolator Courier Services and was an carpet installer. He later moved to Twins Falls, ID where he met and married Cathy Huggins. The couple moved to Sioux Falls in 1993. Dennis has been employed as a chef for the last ten years at Waterford At All Saints.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Cathy, two sons, Dennis Acker Jr., Sioux Falls, Kevin Fuller, Twin Falls, ID, five daughters, Marcy (Michael) Cash, Cole Camp, MO, Jamie Acker, Columbia, MO, Malinda Guerrero, Shaunna (Chris) Klinkhammer, and Stacy "Wimpy" (Steve) Acker, all of Tea, eighteen grandchildren, a brother, Neil (Dinese) Acker, Sioux Falls, and a host of other relatives and friends.
