Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, KENNETH G. EARLY - Kenneth G. Early, 80, of Washington Township died at 3:15 p.m. Friday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Argentine, Washington County, April 15, 1922, he was the son of Arthur N. and Mamie Young Early. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Eau Claire. Mr. Early had worked at the Emlenton Limestone Corp. and Cooper-Energy Corp. in Grove City. A World War II Army veteran, he had been a prisoner of war at Stalag 7 in Germany for nine months and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star with V-device, the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and V-device, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Paul W. Wood VFW Post of Hilliards, the American Legion of Parker, the DAV of Butler and the American Ex-Prisoner of War Post of Butler. He was also a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Layton Early, whom he married Jan. 27, 1948; a son, Steve Early of Washington Township; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Walter Early of Hilliards and Sonny Early of Parker; four sisters, Mrs. Edward (Ruby) Zinsser of Glenshaw, Bernice MacTaggert of Grove City and Mrs. James (Helen) Sullivan and Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Sullivan, both of Hilliards; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. A brother preceded him in death. EARLY - Friends of Kenneth G. Early, who died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Marin Street, Eau Claire. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Eau Claire Cemetery. The Moniteau Ceremonial Squad will hold a veteran's memorial service at the funeral home following the funeral service.
