Services for Mildred F. Thee, 87, were held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Mrs. Thee passed away on September 24, 2011 in Spirit Lake.

Mildred Florene [sic] Thee was born Feburay 15, 1924 in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Florence (Wing) Leth. She was raised in Hartley and graduated from Hartley High School. Following graduation, Millie joined the war effort by working in a munitions plant in Loas Angeles, California.

After returning to Hartley, she was united in marriage to Wilbert (Bud) Thee on November 23, 1944, at Worthington, Minnesota. Millie loved raising their three children on the May City family farm until 1967 when they moved to Algona, Iowa. She and Bud also spent three years living in Central City, Nebraska, and then returned to Algona, where they remained until Bud's retirement from Cargill in 1986. Bud and Millie settled in Spirit Lake to enjoy the Okoboji area.

Millie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. She loved going to dances (where she med Bud), visiting with family and friends, driving (not flying) south in the wintertime, playing cards, and bragging on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are he children: Dough Thee and his wife, Kathy of Lenoir, North Carolina, and Jeff Thee and his wife, Cathy, of Spirit Lake; grandchildren: Brian, Troy, Tonya, Tara, Kim, and Reghan Thee, step-grandchildren: Ashley and Lacey Heikens; great grandchildren: Arial Ford-Loosier, Jennifer Theesfeld, and Emillie Thee; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Florence Leth; siblings: All and Herbie; husband, Wilbert (Bud) Thee; daughter, Pam Thee; and daughter-in-law, Jerilyn Thee.

Turner Jenness Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
