Gerald J. "Whitey" Leikam, 66, 200 E. 19th, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at the Hays Medical Center. He was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Catherine to Leo and Clara (Wasinger) Leikam.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was the owner of Leikam's Clock and Watch Repair. He was a member of the Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was past president of the Fort Hays Men's Golf Association and was a past seniors division champion for the Ellis Country Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Lagerman, Oak Creek, Wis.; three brothers, Elmer, Hays, R. Ralph, New Mexico, and Francis, Denver; five sisters, Mary Ann Walters, Hays, Gladys Dreiling, Denver, Alice Beall, Indiana, Cecelia Donken, Denver, and Catherine Barnes, North Carolina; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred, and a sister, Mary.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Wasinger Funeral Chapel, Ellis, with Father Kevin Weber officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm. Thursday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the organization of the donor's choice.
