Hiram K. BLANCHARD was born 21 June 1842, the son of Joseph and Harriet Blanchard. He enlisted 28 May 1862 in the 9th Vermont Volunteers at Woodstock, Vt. He mustered in 9 July 1862, assigned to Company D. Occupation, farmer. Home town, Sharon, Vt. Discharged from the 9th Vermont at Chicago, Illinois, 21 November 1862 for disability.
Reenlisted 22 July 1863 in the 3rd Vermont Infantry, mustered in 22 July 1863. Wounded 5 May 1864, Battle of the Wilderness. Wounded, second time, 19 September 1864 at Winchester. VA. Transferred to Veteran Reserve Corps, 12 January 1865. Transferred to 3rd Vermont Infantry, Company B, 25 July 1865. Mustered out, 16 August 1865.
Married Eliza A. White 15 November 1866 at South Stafford, Vt. There were five children from this union.
Died at Sharon, Vt. 29 May 1876 of consumption and kidney disease.
