James R. Otten, 60, Rt. 2, Kaukauna, died Wednesday morning at Appleton after a long illness.
Mr. Otten was born June 29, 1918 in Wremschall, Minn., and married the former Violet James in 1937. The couple moved to Wrightstown 33 years ago from Hiles, Wis.
Mr. Otten was a veteran of World War II. He was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper Co. at Kaukauna. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 436 of Wrightstown.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Richard, De Pere; Douglas, at home, Russell, Hortonville; nine daughters, June Otten, Kimberly; Mrs. Roger (Colleen) Steinbach, and Mrs. Norman (Nancy) Steinbach, both of Manawa; Mrs. Tom (Donna) Guyette, Appleton; Gloria Otten, at home; Mrs. Dennis (Janet) Crain; Mrs. Richard (Arlyne) Menting; Mrs. Archie (Beverly) Carpenter; Miss Sharon Otten, all of New London; five stepbrothers, Stanley Pallas and Horton Rhodes, both of Superior, Wis.; George Pallas, California; Charles Pallas, Nevada; Harry Pallas, Washington; two sisters, Bertha Peterson and Katherine LaPaige, both of Superior; 17 grandchildren.
One son preceded him in death.
Friends may call at De-wane Funeral Home, Wrightstown, after 3 p.m. today and then after 12 noon Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wrightstown. American Legion memorial service 7 this evening. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Karl Klein officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
