Violet I. Otten, 89, Wrightstown, passed away peacefully with family members present on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.
She was born in Hiles, Wis., a daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Rasmussen) James. She married James Otten in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1979.
She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wrightstown. She enjoyed gardening, reading, feeding the wild birds, and spending time with family.
She is survived by eleven children, June Otten, Colleen (Roger) Steinbach, Gloria Otten, Nancy Steinbach, Donna Guyette, Doug Otten, Janet (Dennis) Crain, Russ Otten, Arlyne (Rick) Menting, Beverly Otten, and Sharon Dey; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Otten; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She is also survived by five sisters, Ida May (John) Flannery, Maggie Newman, Marie Mahner, Ruth Dufour, and Alice (Wallace) Ritchie; and a brother, Monte (Dora) James.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Dick Otten and Ronald Otten; a son-in-law, Norman Steinbach; and two grandchildren, Tania Dey and Peter Steinbach.
Friends may call at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 437 Turner Street, Wrightstown, on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, from 12 p.m. until time of service. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
