DEATH CLAIMS CALVIN MAHONE
Funeral services for Calvin Andrew Mahone, 73, 323 Fifty-first Street, who died at 1p.m. yesterday in Elizabeth Buxton hospital after a week's illness, will be conducted by the Reverend Sterling Price, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, at 3:30p.m. Monday in the Carder funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetary.
Born in Williamsburg, March 6, 1869, he had resided here for 48 years and was employed in the local shipyard for 30 years until retirement in 1932.
More recently, he was recalled to the yard and was employed as a navy inspector at the time of death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. R.E. White and Mrs. H.F. Boutchard, and one grand-daughter, Miss Margaret White, and a number of nieces and nephews, all of Newport News.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers will include S.O. Rawls, G.W. Pratt, C.F. Chandler, Joe Copeland, V.R. Davis and H.H. Ahern. Other friends of the family will serve as honorary pallbearers.
