Winnie Lee Powell, 98, went to be with Jesus on 9/25/06. She was born in Floyd, Arkansas on May 7, 1908, the oldest daughter of Louis and Louetta Johnson. Winnie married Rev. David F. Powell, and together, they pastored Assembly of God Churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. She was a wonderful southern cook, seamstress and had a beautiful alto voice, winning every contest in her community. Winnie is survived by her daughters, Nell and Jack Forga, Monahans, TX, and Wanda Harris, Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Terry Forga, Carolyn Lee, Ron Forga, Donna Forga and Gary Harris; great-grandchildren, Kim, Jacky, Courtney, Corey, Chris, Michelle and Michael; and great-great grandchildren, Jacob, Brianne, Madison, Zane and Paige. She is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years; daughter, Velma Haynes; and grandchildren, Bobby J. Forga and Jim Ginn. Thank you, God, for our wonderful Christian mother who truly was a lady. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, 9/30/06, at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Oklahoma FOP or to the Alzheimer's Assoc.
