Jay D. Rickman - August 10, 1987

Jay Dean Rickman 65, of Bartlesville died at 1 p.m. Monday in the Jane Phillips Hospital.
Rickman was born January 15, 1922, at Pineville, MO., to Clarence Earl Rickman & Nannie Lottie (VanHorn) Rickman. He grew up in Bartlesville where he came with his parents as an infant. He attended Bartlesville schools. He joined the U.S. Army in 1940 during World War II, serving three years and three months in the South Pacific. He received several medals and was wounded in I.E. Shimia.
He was discharged from the military in 1943.
Rickman married Elva Mae Nixon on April 10, 1942 at Houston, Texas. Following his discharge, he was employed at the Dewey Portland Cement Co. from 1946 to 1951. In 1952 he was employed by National Zinc Co. until his disability retirement in 1971.
Funeral services for Rickman will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Leascher of the Eastern Heights Baptist church officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery where full Military Rites will be accorded Rickman by the James H. Teel American Legion Post No. 105. Funeral services and interment will be under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home.
Rickman is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elva Rickman, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Wallace J. (Shirley Jean) Wilson, Bartlesville; two sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Betty Rose) Puckett, Bartlesville, and Mrs. Ray (Iris June) Puckett, Bartlesville; one brother, Clarence Leon Rickman, Denver Colo.; and two grandchildren.
