JOHN A. KENNEDY, well-known resident of Frederick and prominent member of St. John's Catholic church, died at his home, 317 East Third Street, on Friday afternoon. Death was due to arterio sclerosis. He was the son of Patrick J. and Mary Ellen Kennedy and was born in Melbourne Australia, to which country his parents had emigrated from Ireland. The family left Australia and came to America in 1871, making their home in this city. He was the last of his immediate family and had he lived until May 29, he would have been 72 years of age.

He spent his entire life in Frederick and was educated at St. John's School and then entered the tailoring business, conducting the firm of Kennedy Brothers. He was secretary of the Catholic Benevolent Legion, a member of St. John's Council, Knights of Columbus, and the Independent Hose Company.

Besides his widow, Mrs. E. Lillian Poole Kennedy, he is survived by the following children: J. Harry Kennedy, Mrs. Edna G. Kennedy, Frank E. Kennedy, and Ernest F. Kennedy, all of Frederick; Sister Mary Ann, of Mt. St. Agnes College, Mt. Washington; and Mrs. S. Gertrude Topper, wife of F. Quinn Topper, of Emmitsburg; and 13 grandchildren.

The funeral will take place with a low Mass at St. John's Church; interment in St. John's cemetery; C.E. Cline and Son were the funeral directors.
