Ferne Ann McDowell Egbert was born January 27, 1934 in Selma, California to father William Ross McDowell and mother Sarah Ann Rush. She had 5 brothers and 8 sisters. She is survived by her brother Francis McDowell. She graduated from Selma High School in 1953. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager, and served faithfully all her life. She was married June 10, 1959 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple to Claude Egbert. They were married 44 years before she was widowed for 10 years. She supported her husband in the military 23 years, moving her kits from Germany to Washington, Virginia, Kansas, Germany, and Washington. She had 2 children when he was in Vietnam and Thailand. She loved painting, reading (especially Westerns), and making crafts. She worked for Rainier Bank. She is survived by 5 children. She also leaved 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Ferne passed away in Tacoma, Washington on November 27, 2013 at the age of 79. The viewing of Ferne Ann Egbert will be 10:30 am TODAY, December 5, 2013, at the Lakewood Ward Building, 5220 104th Street South west, Lakewood, WA 98499. The funeral will follow at 12:00 pm. The burial will be at New Tacoma Cemetery and Funeral Home, 9212 Chambers Creek Rd W, University Place, WA 98467.
