Loren married Helen Tinjum on November 28, 1944, in Moorhead, MN, and they continued to live and farm near Glyndon. They moved to rural Moorhead and Loren began work with Red Owl, Inc. He retired in 1986, after thirty-seven and a half years with Red Owl. They later moved into Moorhead.
Loren and Helen spent the winter months in Lake Havasu, AZ, for many years. In the summer months, they rented a cabin at Garland Resort on Middle Cormorant Lake for twenty years. They rented a camper on Buffalo Lake for twenty years, and then purchased a cabin on Wymer Lake in 1992. They enjoyed that cabin for twenty-four years.
Loren loved activities in the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was a member of Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed spending the summer months in his vegetable garden. Family was also very important as he took in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities.
Loren was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead, since 1948, and was also a member of the Teamsters for many years.
Loren died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his home in Moorhead, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley, at ninety-three years of age.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Helen; son, David (Marilyn) Geiszler, Vergas, MN; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Ramon (Darby) Geiszler, Moorhead; sister, Dorothy Delger, Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Susan Geiszler, Lake Havasu; and a son-in-law, Dan Lakeman, Moorhead.
Loren was preceded in death by his son, Keith Geiszler; daughter, Denise Lakeman; and eleven brothers and sisters.
Visitation for Loren will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016, from 5 – 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His funeral will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at 11 AM, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
