Elizabeth Hoffmann was born on January 12, 1858, in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany to Christina Remmers, age 24, and John Godfred Johann Gottfried Hoffmann, age 27. She arrived in the US from Germany with her parents in about 1872. She & her mother were both midwives, and delivered many of the babies in the Germantown area. Elizabeth married Frank Franz Bernhard Kroeger in 1879 when she was 21 years old. Frank was a cigar maker and also from Germany, (the town of Ankum- as verified by his passport application) He passed away on May 12, 1913, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 60. They had been married 34 years. They had 9 children, one dying at the age of 2. Both are buried at St Michals Cemetery, although I was unable to locate any monument for the couple. Their infant child Angela is buried in Plot F with Elizabeth's parents John & Christina Remmers Hoffmann.
