Carol (Rood) Ketchum, 76, of Durham, N.C. (formerly from Tunkhannock), passed away at her home on Feb. 26, 2016. Born Dec. 2, 1939, to Ira and Nettie Rood in Luzerne County, Carol spent most of her life in Mehoopany and Tunkhannock where she raised her family. She retired as CEO of Penn East Credit Union in Scranton in 2004 and then moved to Durham to be close to her sons and grandchildren. She was a board member of Tyler Memorial Hospital for many years and active member of the BPW of Tunkhannock before retiring. In her free time she was an avid cook and sang with several choirs and chorale groups. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers (Donald Rood Sr. and Harold Rood) and a sister (Betty Shearer). She is survived by her sons: Kevin Ketchum (wife Holly), and Eric Ketchum; and daughter, Lisa Gandy (husband Ken); and her granddaughters: Reagan Ketchum and Amber Ketchum. Pennsylvania services will be held on Friday, March 4, at Clark Piatt Funeral Home, 6 Sunset Lake Rd., Hunlock Creek, beginning with visitation at 10 a.m., followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Bloomingdale Cemetery in Shickshinny. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations on Carol's behalf to the A.P.S. of Durham, N.C., or Mt. Sylvan United Methodist Church, Durham, N.C.
