Carol L. Farmer, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2015, at The Grove, Rosewood Community Living. She was born on June 12, 1940, to Robert and Freeda (Hall) Simpson in Petrolia, Ontario, Canada. Raised on her family farm, Carol was the third of six children.

After school, Carol moved to London, Ontario, where she met and married Robert Johnston in 1959 and had three daughters. Adventurous at heart, Carol and her family moved to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, in 1968, where they lived and worked for five years. After moving to Lynchburg, VA, in 1973, the family continued to migrate across the country, living in Knoxville, TN; Bakersfield, CA; St. Charles, MO; and ultimately returning to Bakersfield, where she lived until her passing.

In 1989 Carol married Edgar Farmer of Bakersfield. During their 15 years of marriage, Carol and Ed traveled the world, spending precious time together in Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, China, Spain, and France.

Working in administrative positions for most of her career, Carol retired from Bechtel Petroleum in 1995.

Carol is survived by her sisters, Kay (Lorne) Burke and Sharon (Steve) Smith; her brother, Grant (Jacquie) Simpson; Sister- in- law Jean Simpson, and her three daughters, Elizabeth (John) Thomason, Lesleigh (Carolyn Agerton) Johnston, and Lyndley (Todd) Warren. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jane, Tracey, Jessey, Blake, Brett, Brynna, and Emma. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed; her brother, Lorne; and her sister, Elizabeth.

Carol will be remembered for her devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ, her gentle and kind spirit, and her love of animals.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, located at 3700 River Boulevard, with Pastor Terry Barnett officiating. Interment will immediately follow. The family will greet friends after the service at the home of Todd and Lyndley Warren, 9830 Holland Street.

The Warren/Johnston/Thomason family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Rosewood Community, specifically those in the Grove, for their attentiveness and loving care. We also thank Hoffmann Hospice and Agape In-Home Care for making Mom’s last days so peaceful, and a special thank you to Mrs. Pat Rupe for her service and faithful friendship.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carol’s name to the Alpha Canine Sanctuary or the Alzheimer’s Association of Kern County. google.com/
