J. H. PATTEN DEAD at 84

J.H. Patten, 84, a resident of Ames for 30 years, passed away at a nursing home in Boone Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. Cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been ill 6 months. Patten was born July 20, 1866 in Sullivan county, Ind. He moved to Iowa in 1909, and had lived in Ames since 1921. The last of seven brothers, he had been in the painting business with his son for the past 25 years. He was married to Rosa Hunter on Jan. 13 1889, in Sullivan, Ind. She preceded him in death on Feb 1, 1949.Surviving are: two sons, J.G. Patten Ames, and William from Mason City; two daughters, Mrs. Inez Stuben and Mrs. Marie Boldt both of Traer; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Adams Chapel Friday, Nov. 24, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. W. Murray Allan will be in charge. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal cemetery.
