George Arlo Tharp was born one of 3 boys to Orris Marion Tharp and Myrtie Mae Putney. George's father, Orris, owned a farm implements and motorcycle store in Saunders Co., Nebraska. Orris died as the result of a motrocycle accident. The accident happend while Orris was delivering medicine to a sick man.

George married Daisy Mae Blair of Wahoo, Nebraska. It was in Nebraska that Daisy gave birth to their only child, a son named Bobbie. The samll family of 3 soon moved to Seattle, Washington.

George found work in the construction trade. During the depression the family purchased a home. They eventually managed to payoff the house, remarkable given the odds against them. George along with Daisy was known to help others and often took in less fortunate people that themselves to help them get a leg up in life.

George suffered a fall on a constuction site sometime in the mid 50's. This gave rise to heart condition that troubled him the rest of his life. He died in May of 1964 of a heart attack.
