Mrs. Helen J. Johnson, formerly of 420 Durston Ave., died Monday in a local nursing home after a long illness. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Weedsport and had resided in Syracuse since 1921. She was the widow of Ernest P. Johnson, who died in 1965. Mrs. Johnson was a Red Cross volunteer during World War I and served in France as a hospital worker. She is survived by her son, D. Murray Johnson of Harrisburg, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Harold R. Beard of New Hartford; and a granddaughter, Miss Allison K. Beard of Cambridge, Mass. Memorial services will be at noon Saturday at the Welter Funeral Home, the Rev. Dr. Alexander Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
