From Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home:

Surrounded by family, Alvin Smith Jr., affectionately known as "Great White", passed away peacefully after a tough battle with cancer on Saturday, February 27, 2016, in the comfort of his own home. He was 69 years old. He was born to Alvin Smith Sr. and Sybil Louise in San Antonio, Texas, September 10, 1946. He is survived by wife of 43 years, Catherine "Kate" Smith; son, Ronald Willis of Boerne (significant other, Sheila); son, Glenn Willis of Tomball (significant other Amber and children Valerie and Travis); son, Wade Smith of Boerne; daughter, Michele Lillie (spouse Jaime and son Tristan) of Boerne/ Pearsall; and brother, Larry Smith (Debbie) of San Antonio. He is also survived by in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Sr.; mother, Sybil; daughter, Ashley; and brother. Robert "Bobby" Smith.

Having moved to the Boerne area at the age of 15 and still residing on the same property, he became a well known resident. He had a wild streak a mile wide in his younger days, and made a name for himself because of it. He joined the Air Force and served for 2 years during the Vietnam Era.

He started traveling with the carnival, where he ultimately met the love of his life. They married, traveled a few more years, and then decided to make their way back to Boerne to establish a life together. He was a player for the Outlaw softball team, could be seen out for a night of country dancing, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his career of being a truck driver for many years. Many will remember him for his outspoken personality, and the way he appreciated life. He was a wonderful husband, a devoted father, and a friend you could always count on who will be forever missed.

Per Alvin's wishes, a Graveside Memorial and Burial Service will be held Thursday, March 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Smith Cemetery (FM 3351) with friends and family invited to attend. Immediately following will be a celebration of life at the Smith Residence with a BBQ plate fundraiser to be held.

A memorial fund account has been set up in the name of "Alvin Smith Jr. Memorial Fund" at Security Service Federal Credit Union for those of you who would like to make a donation.
