Gloria Jean Mowbray, 70, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, with her family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Lewis and Virginia Harris Mowbray; her brother, Charles Rodney Mowbray; and sisters, Virginia Smith and Norma Mowbray.

Gloria was a dedicated and longtime employee of Roanoke City Schools. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed writing and sending cards to her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Ken Mowbray and wife, Candy; grandchildren, Abbi and Sarah; two brothers, Don Mowbray and Eugene Mowbray; one sister, June Thomas; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Oakey’s North Chapel, Peters Creek Road, Roanoke. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016, at Oakey’s North Chapel with Dr. James Milner officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
