PASSED AWAY IN FREDERICKSBURG, IOWA, ON WEDNESDAY FORENOON AT HOME OF HIS DAUGHTER – HOME HERE WAS WITH MR. AND MRS. O. E. HAMMOND – FUNERAL TO BE HELD FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Howard Maitland, of this city, father of Mrs. Owen E. Hammond, passed away Wednesday forenoon at 10:15 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Barney Cornwell, in Fredericksburg, Iowa, where he was visiting, following a stroke of paralysis received two weeks ago. He was 65 years of age. Mrs. Cornwell arrived here this morning with the body. Mr. Hammond went to Freeport to meet Mrs. Cornwell.
The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon. There will be a prayer at 1:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hammond, 412 West Hurlbut Ave. and the funeral service will be held at the Federated church in Poplar Grove at 2:30. Rev. Holloway, of Poplar Grove, will officiate. The burial will be in the Poplar Grove cemetery.
Mr. Maitland lived in Poplar Grove for several years, but had made his home for the last 18 years in that of his daughter, Mrs. O. E. Hammond. Those who survive of the immediate relatives are the two daughters mentioned. His wife died several years ago.

Howard Maitland.
Howard Maitland was born at West Chester, Chester county, Pennsylvania, August 22, 1857, and died on Wednesday, July 21, 1920, at the age of 62 years, and 11 months at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Barney Cornwell at Fredericksburg, Iowa.
He came to Illinois when a young men (sic) and was married to Helen McCann, who died May 24, 1884. Four children were born to this union, Charles Maitland, Mrs. Emma Cornwell, Mrs. lda Hammond and Mildred Welch, who died three years ago, and seven children.
He made his home for a long time in this city at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Owen Hammond, 912 West Hurlbut avenue.
