Shirley Ann Benton
Shirley Ann Benton, 80, of Richmond, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Baptist Health- Richmond.
Shirley was born on December 31, 1935 in Madison County, and was the daughter of Edgar and Virginia Taylor Benton, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a retired purchasing agent, having worked first at Tube Turns in Louisville, Kentucky and later at Ajax Magnethermic, and was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed animals and working in her flower garden. She loved family gatherings, especially with her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include: one sister, Barbara Hendren (Bill), of Richmond; two brothers, Charles Benton (Donna), of Richmond, and Jimmy Benton (Gail), of Viera, Florida; ten nieces & nephews, Eddie Benton (Mandy), Skip Benton (April), Steve Benton, Kenneth Benton (Kelly), Mary Sue Bowlin (Steve), Lynne Sneed (Jeff), Charlene Benton, Kevin Hendren, Jeffrey Benton, and Wendy Reiboldt (Max); and several great and great-great nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Noland Benton, and one great nephew, Brett Benton.
Funeral services for Shirley Benton will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Bro. Eddie Benton, a nephew of Shirley's will be conducting the services along with Bro. Chris Dotson. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the funeral home.
Her nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
