Edward J. Krystofek, 87, of Oglesby died at 10 p.m. Feb. 24, 2016, in Manor Court of Peru.


A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Church, Oglesby. The Rev. Gary Blake, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Valentine's Cemetery, Spring Valley, with full military honors by the La Salle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group.


Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the church. Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby, is in charge of arrangements.


Ed was born July 28, 1928, in Peru to Joseph and Agnes (Mikus) Krystofek. He married Elizabeth Gillio on Sept. 11, 1948, in Sacred Heart Church, Oglesby. She died June 8, 2015.


Ed worked at the Marquette and Lone Star Cement Companies. He was a member of Holy Family Church and the Holy Name Society, AARP and the Oglesby American Legion.


He served in the U.S. Navy.


He is survived by two daughters-in-law, Laurie Krystofek and Sharon Krystofek, both of Oglesby; six grandchildren, Patti (Andy) Kamnikar, Peggy Chiu, Beth (Russell) Hamilton, Becky (Steve) Kofoid, Brian (Allison) Milus and Jessica Tune; 15 great-grandchildren, Johnathan, Lydia, Tristan, Sophia, Adan, Kyle, Adam, Nolan, Klint, Kalee, Mackenzie, Kannon, Dylan, Addison and Reece; a brother, John (Ann) Krystofek of Peru; a sister, Sophie Rataczak of La Salle.


He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, John on Dec. 18, 2003, and Randy on Feb. 27, 2011; one brother, one sister and one grandson, Kenny Krystofek.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Oglesby American Legion.
