Johnny Lee "Indian" Ellis passed away February 25, 2016. He was born March 14, 1944 in Freer, Texas to John Earl Ellis and Evelyn Tucker Whalen. Johnny was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a Citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and very proud of his Native American heritage. He worked as a pipeline welder for 35 years before retirement. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and traveling.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon Ellis; Daughter & Son-in-law, Sherry & Darryl Bowers; two grandchildren, Bryan Lee Bowers and Kaylee Ann Bowers; mother, Evelyn Whalen; two sisters, Lila Hamby and Sally Bell; brother, Ernest Whalen, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home beginning at 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 until Graveside Services at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
