Gloria Greer Thompson, 85 of Roanoke County went to be with her Lord, Wednesday morning, February 24, 2016.
Gloria was retired from Eli Lilly and had worked many years as a cafeteria worker for Roanoke County Schools. She was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, T.L. and Nannie Greer, and her husband of 50 years, James Dennis (J.D.) Thompson, Sr.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis Thompson and wife Joyce, of Roanoke County, Kenneth Thompson, of Vinton, her grandson, Joshua Thompson, of Richmond, her granddaughter, Christina T. Dean and husband Robert, of Salem, VA, great granddaughter, Gabriell Davis and husband Jesse, of Salem, WVA, 2 great great grandchildren, her brothers, Charles E. Greer and wife Marie, Bill Greer and wife Lois, all of Roanoke, her sisters, Betty Figgatt, of Jacksonville, FL, Marlene Garman and husband Bob, of Vinton, Margaret Garman and husband Larry, of Salem, numerous nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating Gloria’s life will be held at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Saturday, 11:00 AM, February 27, 2016 with Pastor Jason Gault and Pastor Jon Spencer officiating. Interment in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mineral Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 1030 Bible Ln, Vinton, VA 24179 in Gloria’s memory.
