Larry Thomas Barker, 73, of Mountain View Street, entered into his heavenly home on Sept. 19, 2006, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Catawba County, son of the late Carl Lee and Louise Laws Barker. FUNERAL: 4 p.m. Friday, Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly INTERMENT: Hillcrest Gardens VISITATION: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home He retired from Champion Motor Grader in 1996, and was a paper carrier for The Gaston Gazette for many years. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Belmont. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. SURVIVORS: Left to cherish his memory is his fiancée Linda Haggins Friday of Gastonia; his sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Brenda Barker of Gastonia, Larry and Sherry Barker of Denver, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and June Barker of Mount Holly; stepdaughter and husband, Rita and Don Hullett of Lincolnton; stepsons and wives, Steve and Sandy Lawing of Stanley, Paul and Sheila Johnson of Lexington, S.C.; two nephews, two nieces, three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and four stepgreat-randchildren. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: His wife, Ruby Wright Barker; an adopted son, David Johnson
