Born in North Codorus Township, Ivan was a son of the late Ivan E. and Stella V. (Senft) Kessler.
He retired in 2001 from P.H. Glatfelter Company in Spring Grove, following 45 years of employment as a crane operator. He was a member of St. Peter's (Lischey's) United Church of Christ in Spring Grove.
He was the husband of Shirley R. (Shaffer) Kessler, who preceded him in death on March 22, 1998, and is survived by two sons, Terry L. Kessler and Rick E. Kessler, both of Spring Grove; a daughter, Betty A. Zani of York; eight grandchildren; a brother, Clair W. Kessler of Spring Grove; and three sisters, Ruth L. Stambaugh, Florence M. Fleming, and Maryann Beaver, all of Spring Grove.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Brian A. Kessler, who died in 1997.
Mr. Kessler was laid to rest beside his wife and son in St. Peter's (Lischey's) Cemetery, Spring Grove.
