Benjamin Joseph Bruce, Jr. passed away on December 31, 2015, at his Sacramento, California home.

Mr. Bruce was born on November 18, 1949, in Darlington, South Carolina, to Benjamin Joseph Bruce and Ella Mae Bruce. After graduating from Central High School, he enlisted in the United States Army.

A United States Army veteran, of the Vietnam war, he retired from the Army and moved to California. He was a member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, in Oakland, CA. He was also a Mason. He enjoyed spending time with his family, singing, dancing, and watching movies.

Mr. Bruce is survived by his wife: Janet Bruce, of Sacramento, CA. Two sons: Van Morrison, of Butte, Montana and Torey Bruce, of Beaumont, TX. Two daughters: Tanya Bruce and Theresa Bruce, both of Beaumont, TX. Four stepsons: Eugene Jones, Jr., Cheron Jones, Kennedy Jones, and Joseph Jones, of Oakland, CA. Eight grandsons and five granddaughters. Four brothers: William Douglas, of Florence, SC, Melvin Bruce, of Caldwell, TX, Robert Bruce, of Oakland, CA, and Tommy Bruce, of Tunis, TX. Three sisters: Ida Walker, of Oakland, CA, Tiny Wells, of Philadelphia, PA, and Lillie Cole, of Hayward, CA. He also had an uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Calvin Bruce.

The Bruce family would like to thank everyone for their prayers.

Mr. Bruce will be interred at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on January 20, 2016.
