Mr. Lanier Cantrell age 80 of Oakwood passed away on Wednesday December 02, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday December 05, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Mike Williams and Reverend Truman Humphries will officiate.

Mr. Cantrell was born on January 29, 1935 in Cornelia, Georgia to the late Thomas Aaron Cantrell and Carrie Belle Ballew Cantrell. As a young man Mr. Cantrell was employed with Piedmont Drug Store and later became the dispatcher for the City of Buford for 13 years, he then retired from Gwinnett County Police Department after a number of years of employment. He was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ruby Humphries, Ethel Lee Aycock, Willie Mae Buffington, and Beatrice Erwing, brothers, Walter, J.C., Avery, Leroy, Jack, and Lewis Cantrell.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hilda Sue Cantrell of Oakwood, sister and brother-in-law, Verdina and Rogers Reynolds of Gainesville, 43 Nieces and nephews.
