Born in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Alice L. Baer Barber.
Lois was a graduate of Ridley Park High School, Ridley Park, and Clarion University, earning her master's degree in education. She was employed as a special education teacher for more than 35 years, until her retirement.
While living in Bedford, she was a volunteer chaplain at Bedford Hospital. Lois also played piano at various United Methodist churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Otto Tinkey; her grandson, Martin Zane Setto; and her brother, Marvin Barber.
Surviving are her daughters, Carla Scofield and her husband, John, Clarks Summit; Judy Shaffer and her husband, Ron, Lenhartsville; Rebecca Wilson and her husband, the Rev. Donald Wilson, Washington, DC; and her son, Douglas Zane Tinkey and his wife, Julie, Linglestown; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Funeral services for Lois will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with the Rev. Betty Riley officiating.
Interment will be held in Carverton Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
