Dorothy J. Beals, 79, of Bement, passed away at 2:20 p.m., February 19, 2016 at the Kirby Medical Center.
Dorothy was born December 17, 1936 in Ava, IL the daughter of Calvin and Mary Helen (Trail) Pulcher. She married Russell Beals on March 5, 1960 in Decatur. He passed away on April 5, 2009.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Patrick (Cathy) Beals and Brenda Gaitros both of Monticello, Karen (Paul) Brown of Decatur; grandchildren, Tim (Tina) Beals of Maroa, Matthew (Lindsay) Beals, Daniel Beals, and Heather Beals all of Monticello, Crystal (Derek) Miller of Farmer City, David Brown of Decatur, Amanda Beals of Mattoon, and Kyle (Tiffany) Brown of St. Charles, MO; great grandchildren, Andrew Beals, Jackson Beals, Ezra McClurg, and Zoie Galt; brother, Robert Pulcher, Sr. of Decatur; brother-in-law’s, Robert Beals of Monticello and Rev. Jack Root of Bethany; sister, Mary (Bud) Pharris of Decatur; sister-in-law’s, Joann Beals and Ruth Beals both of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Freddie, Donald, and Jerry Pulcher; sisters, Patsy Root; brother-in-law’s, Max Beals and Dale Beals; sister-in-law, Winona Pulcher; and son-in-law, Eric Gaitros.
Dorothy was a housewife, mother, and grandma and she was a member of the AARP. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Root officiating.
Interment will be in Bement Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Monticello Faith-in-Action.
