Gertrude A. Upthegrove, 70, of Holley Hotel, Bradford, a lifelong resident of the area, died Tuesday morning at Port Allegany Community Hospital where she had been a patient since Friday. Born Aug. 31,1904, in Dunkirk, N.Y. she was the daughter of Joseph and May Markham Steins. She married the late Carold J. Upthegrove who died in 1959. Retired from Airco Speer, she was a member of St. Bernard Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Louis Dragoone of Smethport; two sons, C. J. Upthegrove Jr. of Port Allegany
and Gene Upthegrove of Smethport; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Fredericksand Mrs. Dorothy Reed, both of Dunkirk, N.Y.
