Rufus Coleman Brooks married Lucindy Hensley on June 5, 1895 in Savannah Township, Jackson County, North Carolina. W.E. Conner, Minister of the Gospel. Witnesses were I.B. Barker, S.B. Buchanan and W. Tatham. The family, except for married daughter Lillian Brooks Trantham, had moved to Gaston County by 1920. Rufus Coleman Brooks and daughters Othelia and Annie Bell worked in a cotton mill. The 1880 census taken in Oconalufty, Swain County, North Carolina lists Lucindy as Lucinda K. Hensley. Lucindy was born in either Jackson or Swain County. Her parents were married in Jackson County on October 29, 1868. They are listed on the marriage record as Jeremiah Hensley and Ingabo Guilliams. In addition to Guilliams, other surnames appear in various records for Ingabo (Inkibaugh): Quilliams, Brooks and Williams. Margaret Ingabo (Inkibaugh) Hensley's death certificate states that her mother was Inkibaugh Quilliams. Her father was Isaac Guilliams, per census records.
