Eugene E. Cartwright, age 93, died January 5, 1996 in California.

He was born February 11, 1902, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Henry and Mary Ann Cartwright. He graduated from USC in Chemical Engineering. Married Ruth Cartwright in April 1971.

He was a Quality Control Supervisor at Union Oil of Calif. for 38 years. He was a member of the Far East Masonic Lodge #1 of Japan; Tokyo Body of Scottish Rite of Japan; United Methodist Church of Paradise, Calif. Sent at close of World War II to Japan as a consultant of fuel use. He also attended University of Utah and Cal Tech; loved to travel, enjoyed visiting with people and reading with audio tapes from the Library of Congress (Talking Books).

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Chico; son Keros Cartwright of White Heath, Illinois; daughters, Carolyn Gorham of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey; Elizabeth Thorington of Los Gates; step-daughters, Lucy Blatt of San Jose, Calif.; and Jaquie Marsh of San Jose, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services Thursday, January 11, 1996 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 So. at 10 a.m. Funeral Directors: Evans & Early Mortuary.
