Private, Co. H, 97th Pennsylvania Infantry

Drafted; mustered in with 199th Pennsylvania Infantry on 30 Sep 1864; transferred to 97th Pennsylvania Infantry on 13 Feb 1865; discharged on 28 Jun 1865.

Applied for an Invalid pension in 1888, which was granted. Apparently based on the fact that, while on duty in March 1865 at Goldsborough NC, he suffered from exposure due to marching in cold rains, wading streams, and sleeping in wet clothes without blankets. He incurred what appeared to be rheumatism, disease [of the] bowels and kidneys being affected with severe pains and weakness in back.
