Luther Benson Hastings was the 7th son and the 10th child of William Wallace Hastings and Margaret Ann Philpott. Luther never married. Luther and his brother, Jim, who also remained single, both worked for years on ranches in Donley Co. TX. At different times they were cooks on the J.A. Ranch.
