Raymond E. Lewman, "Grandpa Ray" age 89, of Hobart, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. He was born on June 21, 1920 to Roy and Grace Lewman in Botavia, Iowa. Raymond was a Hobart resident since 1952 coming from Calumet City, IL. He was a sales representative for Physicians Supply Co. Ray was a member of the American Legion Post, A.A.R.P and F.O.P. He served his country in the Air Force during World War II. Ray is survived by his son, Barry (Lily) Fiene of Kentucky; 4 daughters, Denise Keever of Hobart, Debbie (Al) Long of Valparaiso, Dawn (Ray) Maas of Valparaiso, and Dara (Dwayne) Hickman of Hobart; 9 grandchildren, Laura (Mike) Budzielek of Hobart, Jayme Spencer of Indiana and Jim (Kim) Spencer of Texas, Brian Keever of Hobart, Sarah (Dave Williams) Long of Portage, and Cheyenne and Whitney Maas both of Valparaiso, May and Noah Hickman; 6 great-grandchildren, Luke and Olivia Budzielek, Austin and Shelby Spencer, Ava Hilton and Jordan Williams; brother, Roy Lewman of Calumet City; sisters, Marilyn (Jerry) Muhleman of Griffith, Norma (Carson) Fultz; and other loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter, Diane Spencer; infant son, Danny; and sister, Pearl Genovese. Memorial contributions are preferred to VNA Hospice. A funeral service for Ray will be on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart with Minister Doug Gamble, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart. A visitation will be on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
