She was the wife of 64 years of the late Lloyd L. Bishop until his death on March 27, 2011.
Born in Bedminster Twp., PA, she was the daughter of the late Erwin and Cora (Alderfer) Shelly.
During the 1940’s, Mrs. Bishop was employed by the former Dublin Pants Factory, Dublin, PA. Then, she worked for 18 years for the Pennridge School District at the M. M. Seylar Elementary School Cafeteria, Hilltown Twp., PA, until 1980. Next, she was employed by the Myers Frozen Foods Co., Plumsteadville, PA, until 1991. Following that, she worked part-time for Heacock Lumber, Plumsteadville, for 10 years until her retirement.
She was a member of the Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, Blooming Glen, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years and volunteered with the Girls’ Club and Sewing Circle.
An avid flower and vegetable gardener, Mrs. Bishop also enjoyed baking and cooking.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane B. Hunsberger and her husband Titus, of Souderton, PA, and Marjorie Brenneman and her husband Don, of Telford, PA; a son, L. Darrell Bishop and his wife Cheryl, of Sellersville, PA; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorie Bishop, in infancy in 1961; two brothers, Victor and Earl Shelly; and three sisters, Mildred Derstine, Florence Landis and Martha Hunsberger.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Services to be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at the Summit View Auditorium at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 West Summit Street, Souderton, PA. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Blooming Glen Mennonite Cemetery, Blooming Glen.
