Mrs. Elizabeth Barnett Esler, a former Philadelphian and daughter of the late General Thomas Kilby Smith, Civil War officer, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Eshleman, at Milton, Mass. She would have been 92 next month.
A native of Cincinnati, Mrs. Esler lived here until 20 years ago. She was the author of many essays and poems, some of which were published. Her husband George G. Esler, died in the 1880's.
Besides the daughter, Mrs. Esler is survived by a brother, Thomas Kilby Smith, Philadelphia attorney; a sister, Miss Helen Grace Smith, of Torresdale; a grandson, B. Franklin Eshleman; and two granddaughters, Mrs. Franklin A. Reece and Miss Anabel Kilby Eshleman. Funeral services will be held in All Saints' Episcopal Church, Torresdale. --
