According to the Census documents for 1920 and 1930, along with her birth certificate, her father is Fred Howren. She married Claude Creggor Souder between 1930 and 1940.

Carthage Nurse Dies Following Long Illness
Mrs. Janice Louise Pitts, 49, died at her home on R.R. 1, Carthage, at 2:10 p.m. Saturday after five years of failing health. Her condition had been serious for six months.
She was born in New Castle on September 30, 1914, the daughter of Fred and Pauline (Clements) Howren, and first was married to Claude Souder. Following his death in 1951, she was married on June 8, 1952, to Worth Pitts, who survives.
A resident of the Carthage community since 1935, Mrs. Pitts worked as a practical nurse there. She was employed at the Container Corporation plant during World War II.
Mrs. Pitts was a member of the East Street Christian Church in Carthage and was a past president of the Christian Women's Fellowship of that church. She also was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Carthage.
Surviving with the husband are two children, Thomas Pitts and Anna Marie Pitts, at home; her step-mother, Mrs. Fred Howren of New Castle; a brother, Thomas Howren of Anchorage, Alaska; two half-brothers, James Howren of Elwood and John Howren of Lafayette, La., and a half-sister, Mrs. William Veach of Terre Haute.
A sister was killed during World War II while serving as an Army evacuation nurse.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carthage East Street Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Kendall officiating, and burial will follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery near there. Friends may call at the Hampton Mortuary in Carthage at anytime.
