DEATH: after 1771/1772, probably after 1800 but unproven

Lieutenant Isaac Cole was a son of John Cole, Jr. and Abigail Butts Cole.

Isaac Cole was first married to Sarah Esterbrooks (Easterbrook) on September 25, 1745/6 at Swansea,MA. Sarah died on October 18, 1770, and with young children to raise, Isaac married Abigail Burden.

Their child Burden Cole was born July 9, 1772. Beyond that conception we can only speculate on location and date of death of Isaac. Some theories have them with as many as five children for that marriage.

Research by Find A Grave member Eric Cole (member ID 48461414) suggests that Isaac Cole moved to Leverett, Massachusetts with his son Burden Cole.  Although no grave for Isaac Cole has been documented in Leverett, Massachusetts, Burden Cole and many of his descendants are buried in the Gardner Cemetery in North Leverett, Massachusetts.

The 1800 Census for Leverett, MA lists a Barden Cowle as a head of household, and also an Isaac Cowle as a head of another household of an appropriate age to be Burden's father.  Subsequent census and other records change the spelling of Barden Cowle to Burden Cole, but there are no other records for Isaac Cowle/Cole in Leverett, MA.  This suggests that Isaac Cole died or moved away from the Leverett, MA area sometime between 1800 and the time of the next census in 1810.  Given Isaac Cole's advanced age in the early 1800s, his death in Leverett seems the most likely scenario.
