Store Owner Dies After Long Illness

James M. Clemens, of 16 Hillview Ave., Rensselaer, owner of Clemens Brothers Store, Rensselaer, for many years, died Thursday [Jul.22, 1971] after a long illness.

Born in Hudson on Feb. 18, 1888 [sic], he had worked as an accountant for the New York Telephone Co. He was graduated from St. Mary's Accademy and had attended Albany Business College.

He was a member of the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Looney General Assembly, Fourth Degree; Rensselaer Council, Knights of Columbus; Vega Order of Alhambra; Albany Lodge of Elks; and an associate member of the Rensselaer Lodge of Elks.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Baldwin; four daughters, Mrs. Frank J. Fowler of Kinderhook; Miss Patricia Clemens, Rensselaer; Mrs. George R. Van Buren Jr. of Kinderhook, and Mrs. John F. Clark Jr., of Newtonville; three brothers, Paul and Michael of Rensselaer, and Charles of Albany and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday [Jul.26] at 8:45 p.m. [sic] from the Sherwood Funeral Home, 3 Partition St., Rensselaer and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Church, Clinton Heights. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
