In 1955, Dr. Christensen started a practice in Fox Chase where she continued to serve the community for over forty years. Dr. C., as she was known, was well loved by her patients. She was one of the last corner family doctors.
Norma was interested in and studied folklore and other cultures. She was particularly interested in the Native American Culture and also toured the Orient extensively.
Norma spent summers with her family at their home in Longport, New Jersey. But most of all, she loved to tell stories of her beloved ‘down home’ Maryland where she was born and spent many summers as a child.
Her husband Fred, a daughter Lisa, a son, Christopher, three grandchildren Kyle, Adelaide and Will and two sisters Benda Yarnell and Sylvia Garlick survived Dr. Christensen.
Relatives and friends were invited to her Funeral Service Monday , December 3, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1015 Cottman Street, Philadelphia where relatives and friends could call after 9:00 A.M. Interment at Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge followed the Funeral Service.
