Bonnie Maxine Means McCoy passed away on February 16, 2016 at Applingwood Health Care Center in Cordova, TN where she had recently and joyfully celebrated her 100th birthday.

She was born on December 3, 1915 in Yoakum, Texas to Charles Bertram and Miriam Mack Means. The oldest of seven children, she grew up in San Antonio, TX. Following high school, she and her three sisters formed a vocal group called the Bennett Sisters. They sang professionally with the Clyde McCoy Orchestra, a popular big band during the 40s and 50s, traveling all over the country performing in clubs, theaters and hotels. They also made several records under the Decca label.

Maxine and Clyde married in 1945 at which time the sisters retired from the band. She and Clyde were blessed with 45 wonderful years together before his death in 1990. She was a devoted and supportive wife who immensely enjoyed their life together in the entertainment business.

Maxine was a beautiful lady who loved shopping and dressing up in colorful clothes and jewelry. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting elegant dinner parties, always serving delicious food made from scratch. She never met a stranger and had a smile for everyone. She was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church where she developed many friendships and especially enjoyed the outstanding musical programs.

She was predeceased by her husband Clyde McCoy, sisters Marguerite Simmons, Charlie Bell Waller, and Billie Jane Means; brothers Dr. Bert Means and Allin Means; and nephew Steve Means of Dallas, TX.

She is survived by her brother, Frank L. Means of Corsicana, TX, brother-in-law Bill Simmons of Collierville and sister-in-law Patricia Means of Cordova. She is also survived by and was a devoted aunt to nephews Frank Means, Jr. and Charley Means of Corsicana, TX, Don Means of Sausalito, CA, Mark Means and Bert Means of Dallas, TX, C. Allin Means of Wildwood, MO, and nieces Gerry Hargrove of Dallas, TX, Gaye Karish of Los Angeles, CA, Bonnie Simmons of Collierville, Melody Waller of Cordova, Patsy Gardner of Senatobia, MS, and Glenda Laughlin of Coppell, TX, as well as a host of great and great great nieces and nephews.
