Dorothy German, 96 of Hankinson, ND passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at St. Gerard’s Community of Care, Hankinson, ND. Dorothy German was born September 29, 1919 in Mooreton, ND, the daughter of John and Magdalena (Martini) Althoff. Dorothy worked at St. Mary’s Home, Sleepy Eye, MN and at St. Mary’s Hospital, Wahpeton, ND as a LPN. On September 12, 1951 she was united in marriage to Joseph German at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, ND. After their marriage they farmed near Hankinson, ND until the spring of 1984 when they retired. In 1986 they moved into Hankinson. Joe passed away on April 17, 2009 and Dorothy moved into St. Gerard’s Community of Care, Hankinson. Dorothy was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church. Her husband Joe said that Dorothy was the best wife he could ever ask for and a very good mother to their children.

She is survived by one daughter; brothers: Leo Althoff, Joseph Althoff; sister: Sister Carolyn Althoff, nine grandchildren & twelve great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Joseph, son: Alan German; daughters: Mary Lepp & Jane Hohertz, sisters: Sister M. Angeline (Clara) Althoff, O.S.F., Loretta Bernard, Marie Kreppers & Rosalia Killian and brothers: Lawrence Althoff & Aloysius Althoff.
