Mr. Stone was a native of Chatham and graduated from Glen Allan public schools. He then attended University of Mississippi and Millsaps College before returning to Chatham where he was engaged in farming. He also owned and operated Paw Paws Christmas Tree Farm.
He married Mary Louise Shanahan in 1949 and she preceded him in death in 2001.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Ann S. McCaskill (Dan) of Leland and Julie S. Peyton of Hollandale; 2 sons, George W. Stone, Jr. of Hollandale and Paul W. Stone of Chatham; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
